The Internet technologies have brought new avenues for exploitation involving child pornography, human trafficking, sextortion, cyberstalking and other forms of harassment. This panel will consider what can be done to provide local law enforcement agencies with better tools to combat these forms of exploitation. How can we more effectively combat crime, including crimes of exploitation, conducted using the “deep web” and digital currencies? Given the global nature of today’s communications systems, what is the best response to combat exploitation in which the producers and consumers of illicit content are often in different countries?
This panel session will explore the challenges associated with fostering the positive aspects of today’s technologies while also addressing their misuse for exploitation.
