About the Symposium
This second Climate Adaptation Research Symposium will highlight recent social science research on the impacts of climate change, particularly on vulnerable populations and communities.
Hosted by the UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation, the event aims to translate cutting-edge findings for policymakers to inform adaptation strategies. Further, the symposium will identify emerging research needs and foster cross-disciplinary and cross-sector dialogue.
This year, the symposium will be a full-day, virtual event.
Submission Details
- Academic disciplines: Studies can be from economics, geography, law, public health, sociology, urban planning, and related disciplines.
- Scope: Research should measure the scale of climate impacts and/or focus on strategies to reduce these impacts.
- Format: Abstracts should feature methods and findings and be no longer than 500 words.

- Abstract submission deadline: May 7, 2021 by 11:59pm PT.
- Notification of acceptance: June
- Symposium: September 8, 2021
Evaluation Criteria
The selection committee will evaluate abstracts based on relevance, contribution to the climate adaptation knowledge base, appropriate methodology, a diversity of perspectives, and program balance.
