DESCRIPTION:The recent catastrophic nuclear meltdowns in Japan have cast a shadow over the future of nuclear power that was undergoing a renaissance as a\npossible “clean energy” solution to the global warming crisis. Albert Carnesale\, the Chancellor Emeritus of UCLA\, Victor Gilinsky\, a former commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission\, and nuclear physicist Arjun Makhijani\, head of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research\, discuss the future of nuclear power. \nHammer Forum is moderated by Ian Masters\, journalist\, author\, screenwriter\, documentary filmmaker\, and host of the radio programs Background Briefing\, Sundays at 11am\, and The Daily Briefing\, Monday through Thursday at 5pm\, on KPFK 90.7 FM. \nHAMMER FORUM\nThis ongoing series of timely\, thought-provoking events addresses current social and political issues. \nALL HAMMER PUBLIC PROGRAMS ARE FREE. Tickets are required\, and are\navailable at the Billy Wilder Theater Box Office one hour prior to start\n time.
